Both have the effect of thickening the sound in some way, or creating dissonant timbres.Īnother thickener comes in the form of a sub-harmonic generator, which is used to add bass and depth. The former simply shifts the positions of the partials, making them inharmonic while the latter replicates and transposes harmonics. Examples of these new paradigms include the Prism and Harmonizer sections. Harmor includes many ways to tweak your waveform, and some of them might be unfamiliar.

It should be noted that each patch can consist of two complete and individual patches that are stacked or dynamically mixed. Up to 520 partials may be present in any waveform. You can draw directly in this window and import single-cycle waves, audio files or images to create your own waveforms. However, those waveforms are generated by additive means, and displayed in the Env window. There are, for instance, selectable oscillator waveforms - a pair per 'Timbre' - that can be mixed as you see fit. Even typically subtractive elements like the filter are achieved via additive technology. The developer positions Harmor as an 'additive/subtractive' synthesiser, but there's no doubt that the emphasis is on the former. Format-wise, it's aVSTi and FL Studio plug-in.

I'd still be interested in a full copy of Alchemy though if anyone wants to sell. The FULL bundle from AIR instruments says it has Camel's Alchemy, but if it works or only gives you a broken download link to Camels homepage I dont know. With its charcoal and plum shadings, its look is also unmistakably Image-Line.

But I don't have the full version of Alchemy to compare, so just going on what many others have said. Quite a few people say the resynthesis is way way better in Harmor than in Alchemy. I'd still be interested in a full copy of Alchemy though if anyone wants to sell. Anyone that doesn't have that vst in their top 5 should be treated with deep suspicion. Watch a few of those videos and revel in the genius that is gol (aka Didier Dambrin who created FLStudio), revel in the genius that is Harmor. You need to check out the videos by gol, and prepare to be amazed: The interface has shades of subtractive synthesis and is quite easy to grasp, but it goes so deep it is a real beast and a half. As I said, the resynthesis is like sampling. There isn't really any thing in the world that does what it does in its entirety, that I am aware of. In fact, I'd be interested in the full version of Alchemy if anyone wants to sell it to me.Īs for Harmor. Having said that, if I may, I'm after a copy of Dream Voices if anyone has it, hit me up via PM and I'll give you a good price. I also have thousands of presets and patches that I bought in the sales they had.

I'm more than happy with my Alchemy Player now that I have Kore to access the hidden parameters and to be able to save. I rated Camel in my top 3 VST companies a little while back here before all that came about. If it does reappear it will be very obscure and may take a while for people to cotton on just as to how the tech has been reappropriated. Those that think Alchemy 2 is suddenly going to reappear in the next version but with an Apple in the upper right hand corner instead of a Camel, well, pass the pipe! But I don't have the full version of Alchemy to compare, so just going on what many others have said.Īs for seeing Alchemy in Logic, I doubt that will ever happen. Or you could simply wait for the next version of Logic or the one after that hehQuite a few people say the resynthesis is way way better in Harmor than in Alchemy. They will still do tech-support until some time in July. P.S.: And yes, Apple bought Camel Audio, but I guess you could send Camel a support message asking if you could re-register a second hand license.

I have very little experience with VirSyn Cube, maybe someone else can chime in!?

So I'd say Harmor and Iris 2 if you need realism Alchemy if you want to go crazy with sound design. I feel like they all have their strengths, but Alchemy is still best jack of all trades in my arsenal. Iris 2 is very limited, but has an excellent resynthesis engine. Harmor has slightly better resynthesis algorithms than Alchemy, at least to my ears.
